Aoyama Villa Niseko

Aoyama Villa is a contemporary holiday villa in Niseko, built around a tall gable facade with timber framed glazing. We photographed the exterior and the full interior in late autumn, when the trees were bare and the light came in low through the big windows.

The living room was the key space. The double height glass looks straight out into the forest, so we composed the interiors to keep that view in frame while holding detail in the timber floors and grey upholstery. The bathrooms, with their stone basins and deep tubs, got the same careful treatment because they are a big part of what guests book on.
